A week in the English Lake District

Last week… Ann & I, had a week in the Lake District, we arrived on the Saturday, through to the following Saturday… we were based in Bowness-on-Windemere, and we booked a 2-bed apartment, as Catherine mentioned she may join us with her partner Glyn. So leaving our Border Terrier with Cath at home we set off for the week.

When we arrived, we picked up the keys from ‘Cumbrian Cottages‘ and set off to the flat…. Grabbing my cameras we walked down towards the lake on a fine evening…. This would be the last time, I got to ‘play’ with my cameras for days… As Sunday, Monday & Tuesday it never stopped raining…. Cath arrived on Monday evening after taking ‘Elle’ to the kennels…

We managed to get our walking boots on for a good walk around Derwent Water on the Wednesday after catching a ferry to the Lodore Falls Hotel… and walking to the Hawes End Ferry jetty…. on the far side of Derwent Water

Thursday, saw us catching a local bus, to Rydal Water and visiting the abandoned Slate Caves above the lake, before walking on to Grasmere (lake)… and onward into the village of Grasmere, the cloud formation and I.R. levels were super with so many photo opportunities…
