Rivington Pike & Gardens

The Pigeon Tower  @ 720nm / Rivington.

When I get the chance, and when the weather is dry (doesn’t have to be sunny), I like nothing more than jumping in the car with ‘Elle’ and getting up on the moors around Rivington Pike. There is always something new to photograph, whether it be the same angle, but just a different camera or filter or of course weather condition…  it will give such differing outcomes….

There are some great views on the way up to the Tower, whether you park at the ‘Old Barn’ at the bottom of the estate by the lake…. or the secluded mid-way car park to the left of the tower, you can walk through the gardens, which have been cleared of most of the overgrown scrub now by the ‘Friends of Rivington’…

A point of interest to some… may be that down on the side of the Reservoir, when the estate was owned by Lord & Lady Leverhulme, they built a folly down by the waters edge… this folly was a copy of Liverpool Castle… (hence in Liverpool City Center… roads such as Castle Street, Water Street/where the moat was etc)… A great day out if you’re in the vicinity…
