Liverpool Parish Church

Commemorative Sculpture to the 4000 Liverpool civilian deaths of WW2

Today, Ann & I, went down to the city… our aim was to visit the Liverpool Parish Church of St. Nicholas, down by the docks…

After a great large full English, at the Great North Western Hotel (Ann had the small)… followed by a couple of soft drinks… we made our way through the city, and called at a small antique bookshop, in the Bluecoat buildings, to peruse the local history books… nothing grabbed my eye… so we moved on to headed over to the Costa Coffee, at the back of Exchange Flags… after Coffee, we head down to St. Nicholas’s, and found to our surprise that the main church was open, there was a choral rehearsal taking place and the warden, allowed us to visit the interior whilst the rehearsal was taking place… saw some great Blitz history on boards in the church, and there is an Everton Cemetery link with this church… so I can see a Liverpool History story brewing…. waiting to be told… There are commemorative plaques, with stories to three VC holders of WW1, in St. Nicholas’s gardens… ann and I were enthralled to read these before heading off.

We then made our way for the bus terminal… and home…
