A night at the Phil

Ann & I missed a film we really wanted to see when it was on at  Odeon ONE a few weeks ago, Limehouse Golem, an Edwardian murder mystery… set in London… and starring Bill Nighy.

So when it was announced that the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, here in Liverpool was to run a one-off showing of the film, on Halloween Night… we jumped at it and booked our seats online. This meant that we would be out for the trickle of trick or treater’s, at home, and Catherine would have to deal with them alone…lol.

Ann and I made our way to the city, early, to have a meal and drink, in the restored Great North Western Hotel on Lime Street, before walking up to the Hall… Upon arriving we has a drink in the bar, before taking our seats in one of the boxes… The Philharmonic have kept their tradition of an organist playing before the main feature…

The screen in the Philharmonic, is the only screen in the world (so they tell us) that rises from the auditorium for screenings… and what an experience it is… The Philharmonic also, screen films, where the full resident orchestra play the film score for the entirety of the film… we’ll definitely be booking one of those…lol.

Anyway…. what a film Limehouse Golem was with twists within twists… we would really recommend it if you haven’t seen it…. and what an experience… seeing it in a great Liverpool Historic site,
