Dan Murphy’s Bottle Shop (Perth W.A.)
On a recent visit to stay with family in Perth, West Australia, my cousins took me to an off-license called Dan Murpy’s… part of a chain in W.A. When I walked into the ‘bottle shop’ the sight which met my eyes was simply stunning… wall to wall, wines, spirits and beers… and WHAT wines… simply stunning a choice.
the staff were super friendly and had a good knowledge base, especially with the Aussie wines… I gather this outlet was one of their ‘smaller’ shops, not surprisingly I visited the shop on more occasions that I care to recollect, spending a lot more that I care to admit…lol
There were a couple, I really liked and would include them in almost all my mixed red cases. I have come to the conclusion that we in Britain, must get the reds that the Australians really don’t want. many of the Aussie reds on offer in our local supermarkets are ‘full flavour’ in-your-face single or blended reds, however, many of the reds on offer in Dan Murphy’s, were as delicate, with a good length as many of the good French and European wines which can be picked up at a good wine merchants in this country… except for a good price of around £10-15 a bottle for a good everyday wine… progressing to a price of whatever you wish to spend, but with some superb wines on the way up…lol.
