How long has it been since you visited the Walker?

There are some really great exhibitions on at the moment… I started in the Sculpture Gallery, making my way around to most of the others, to find myself simply sitting, listening to some classical music on my MP3 and taking in one of my favourite canvasses by the Liverpool artist… Ged Quinn.

The inspiration on his painting was based on an earlier painting ‘Twilight in the Wilderness‘ by Edward Church (1826-1900). I think it interests me, for the reason of it being close to our own photographic art ‘composite’ images, and it intrigues me to work out the thought processes, which go into making the completed image.

I cannot recommend the Walker more for a great experience and a good day out, whatever style of art you are into, the Walker has something for everyone. from early Renaissance to photographic… and after sitting for 30 minutes or so just taking  in Quinn’s process, I then visited  my other favourite… The Italian Renaissance Gallery (well everyone knows my passion for Venice)… but found myself wandering into the LJM University Exhibition…
