Croxteth Country Park

Croxteth Hall and Gardens

As Croxteth Hall, Gardens and Country Park, are only a short drive away (under 10mins), I often walk with Elle around the Country Park, and of course always have my IR cameras to hand, in one form or another depending on my mood, and which nano-meter value I wish to use depending on the weather and light levels.

The gate-house to the park and Hall

I usually park up in one of the main car-parks, and walk in the woods until we come out at one of the gate-houses to the park, this one leads to the Hall itself. The Hall is the Ancestral Home of the Molynuex family and the seat of the Earl’s of Sefton. After the death of the last Earl (7th) in 1972, the house passed to Liverpool City Coucil, and it is now the council, who manage the Hall Grounds and Park.

The onset, of better weather, will no doubt see me and Elle visiting the Park more often now, as it holds rare breeds of cattle, along with a ‘Home Farm’ riding stables, and some great buildings dotted about in the woods, built for the Hall Staff back in the day, including the hunting kennels, but I’m sure I’ll get images to cover these in the near future…

  1. Good afternoon,

please can you confirm the former use of the ‘Ice House’ – was it ever an air raid shelter?
