Today, Ann and I went to Speke Hall, Liverpool. down by the River Mersey… The light levels were good, so off we went with ‘Elle’ our Border Terrier… Speke Hall is of course owned by the National Trust, here in the UK, and it is one of the ‘local’ properties in our area of the North-West of England.
After parking up, we went to the entrance buildings, which are housed in one of the old barns of the estate, before making our way onto the estate itself, and passed many of the outer buildings where the estate staff were housed back in the day… Speke Hall was first built in the 1530’s and you can read a short synopsis… here.
We were eager to take our Elle, for a walk in the estate woods which surround the hall, but had some difficulty in finding the entrance to the woods, especially due to the misleading signs, which allowed dogs in some areas but not in others, anyway, we eventually ‘sussed’ it, and made our way past the Hall entrance itself…
After stopping a few times to admire the views to be had, we ventured right around the perimeter on the estate, and back to behind the main hall buildings, were loads of visitors, were to be found, playing with their kids, or simply enjoying the lovely summers day… and all the hall estate has to offer for a great day out…
