Venice Carnivale 2018

The Evening show… at Carnivale 2018

Although I started my own journey’s to Venice in the early 1980’s. and Ann and I have been nearly every year since the early 2000’s… This is only my second visit to the Venice Carnivale (last year being the first). Once again, Ann said go with your cameras… so on Sunday 4th February, I set out at 04:45, with a photographic mate…. and we made our way to Manchester Airport, arriving at the ‘Meet & Greet’, before settling in to a bit of brekkie, in one of the lounges… A short time after, we arrived in Venice not long after 10:00.am and made our way to our hotels… just opposite from each other… then headed to the mask and costume models, around St. Mark’s.

Below is a small series of some of my favourite images of the mask & costume models, taken from my time at the 2008 Carnivale…

The theme at this years Carnivale was…. ‘Circus’ and there were some super acts of jugglers, knife throwers, clowns, free face painters for the kids and other circus people, to entertain the crowds, as it went into the evening sessions… which was rounded up each evening with a music and light show which had to be seen to enjoy the whole experience…
