Terracotta Army

Ann & I had booked tickets, last weekend to see the new exhibit of the Terracotta Warriors at Liverpool Museum… this week we went down on the bus early, to have a brekkie at the Great North Western Hotel (now a Wetherspoons and JMU student accommodation)… anyway… after a great breakfast, we headed over to the Museum, and the 12:00.pm. intake to see the exhibit…

After we had had our bags searched… for the dreaded ‘B’ word… our tickets were scanned, and we were herded into a small ant-room of the exhibit, to watch a short 3 minute video on the discovery of this great archaeological find in 1974… and laid down in 210BC… we then entered the exhibit itself…

The ‘Warriors’ were spectacular, in how they were made, and the condition of them after over 2000 years in the ground… Also found, were terracotta horses, pigs, cows and other animals so that the Emperor, could take them into the ‘afterlife’… superb !!!

Fantastic, grave artefacts, were in the exhibit… taken from the Emperor’s magnificent tomb, and detailed descriptions of how the tomb was excavated… finds at the exhibition included jewellery, pottery, cauldrons, chariots, effigies etc… in fact everything the Emperor, needed in the ‘afterlife’ including a water operated clock… amazing. If you are local, and get the chance to come and visit Liverpool Museum, the exhibition is on until October…
