On a recent visit to Perth in Western Australia, I managed to get out to Perup National Park in the South of W.A. I was after the rare and elusive Australian Numbat (Myrmecobius fasciatus). After taking local advice on venues, I found myself with a pop-up hide and my cameras, venturing into the bush… after setting up at the side of what can only be called a swamp..
I waited for 12 hours or so…… after some fleeting glimpses of one or two, around 16:00 I was just contemplating packing up, when one Numbat popped out of the bush right in front of me and decided to stop for a look around… I felt like a kid on Xmas morning and rattled off a few shots… not much pushes my buttons these days, but this was definitely one of those special Nature occasions…
