Carnival 2019 (Day4)

My image of the day…

This morning, Martin was to once again, go on the early morning shoot at St.Marks, alone… to represent the South Liverpool Photographic Society… and I met up with Martin at breakfast in our hotel… we met Bert in our foyer for 9:30.am… and set off for another ‘secret’ Venice tour…

Todays Excursion… Chioggia

Chioggia is a town on the Veneto, some distance from the city of Venice, 2 boat rides and 1 land bus journey from the city. After walking down to the San Marco stop, Martin bought a day tourist ticket, and we caught the No.01 bus/boat heading towards the Lido…

Time for Martin to just sit and enjoy

Once we had arrived at the Lido main terminal, we boarded the No.11 land bus, to take us on the journey along the Lido… to a ferry which the bus boards, to navigate the second part of the Lido, to Pellestrina, at the far end of the Island. However, as we waited to board the bus, it gave me a chance to see the Hotel, on the Lido (Hotel Panorama) that I have booked for a family holiday, later this year… close to all routes, and many superb restaurants in the locality.

After we boarded the bus and travelled to the end of the Lido… we alighted, and waited for the water bus, to take us to the port of Chiogga, on the Venice Mainland (Veneto). This service runs once an hour, so it gave us plenty of time for a few images…

We arrived at Chiogga, and left the water bus, taking time for a few images, before settling in at a local taverna, for some refreshments and nibbles… Martin a small beer (and boy… small was the word…lol) I had a nice Shiraz, this too was quite small… and Bert had a soft drink, which didn’t taste that ‘soft’ at all…lol… then we set off on another walk…

Chioggia’s main street… quiet I know… but it was Siesta time

After our visit to Chioggia… we boarded the water bus, back at the port, to retrace our journey back to the water bus terminal, where we had what was supposed to be a light late lunch of Pizza’s… but when they came out… they tuned out to be HUGE !!!

As we went back to Venice City on the No.1 water bus, Martin left the water bus at San Z. to catch the mask models, as Myself and Bert carried on to alight at San. Marco, to make our way to our hotels. The evening meal saw us once again find our way to the Chinese Restaurant by the Rialto, then we walked back to St. Marks, for an Ice-cream, and soak in the atmosphere of the Carnivale celebrations to finish our last night off…

A quieter time… when the day-tourists have left…
