Carnival 2019 (Day5)

Early morning at St. Marks

I don’t know what it was… but my right knee was killing me all night, and it really made it hard for me to sleep, despite popping paracetamols at the described frequencies… but whatever it was, I was lying awake a lot of the night… so much so, that I decided to dress… and take my cameras for an early morning shoot at St. Marks to see it this would help, so I left the hotel on the last morning and ventured down to the square for about 6:15.am.

Even early… the photographers are out hunting for the mask models.

Although mingling around, my heart was not really in the mood for today’s photography, and although Martin joined me a short time before 7:00.am, I stayed for about and hour, before I strolled back to our hotel but the long way around, along the waterfront…

At times it can be a bit of a scrum… getting that ‘right’ shot

A group of mask models and costumes amongst the scrum…

Some super fun models

As I strolled back along the front, I decided to do a bit of Infrared Photography, and so, took the last few images of our trip, before having breakfast, packing, putting our bags in the foyer, and joining Bert in his Hotel Flora, garden, for morning coffee… we then went back to our Hotel Saturnia… to be picked up at the canal gate, to be water taxi’d back to Ple Roma, and board our road taxi to the airport…

An empty Venice…

Infrared models…

My image of the day…
