A Competition ‘Winner’…

As many of my readers know… I am a member of one of the oldest Photographic Society’s in the world… the South Liverpool Photographic Society.

Each year, at this time, the Society’s main season has ended in June/July, and the Society opens itself to a more relaxed and informal ‘Summer’ season… when we run more ‘fun’ type competitions and talks… it is to this end that the SLPS 2019 Summer Assignment took place.

summer assignment

A few weeks ago, all members of the Society, were given the option of choosing 4 random letter tiles from a closed bag (minus X/Y/Z), and having these letters assigned to the name. The aim of the ‘assignment’ was to take, and edit 4 images relating to each of the letters… but with the added stipulation, of connecting the individual images to a common theme…

The letter tiles, I drew were…

B/K/Q/V

My first entry had a ‘theme’ of ‘Hands around the City‘…
and the individual images were…
Bessie Braddock / Queen Mary / King George V / Victoria (Queen)

My second entry was themed ‘Liverpool Landmarks
and the individual images were…
Quakers Alley / Blitz Memorial (St. Lukes) / Kings Regiment Monument / Victoria St. car-park

My third entry was themed… ‘St. James Mount’…
and the individual images were…
Quarry Mount / Cathedral Bells / Kitti Wilkinson (grave) / St. James Vaults

Out of the 28 individual panels submitted by our members… My own ‘Hands around the City‘ took first place as the overall winner of the competition… and WON the amazing and only prize… A Thornton’s speciality box of chocs…

A great and highly amusing judging night
