Socialising Moro..

Although I have been taking Moro to Everton Cemetery, whilst doing my research, and letting her run without the restriction of a lead… she always comes back to the call or whistle… however, these early runs around the cemetery are simply to get her used to keeping me in sight, whilst off the lead…

And so… as a progression to her early training, Cath has been taking Moro to a friends house once a week, who owns an 11 month old, broken coated Patterdale, named Lilly… and they go up to the park and have loads of socialising activities as a pair, and of course meet up with other dogs… all to the good…

Coupled with these activities with Lilly, Cath has been taking Moro to a local Country Park (Stadt Moers) to run and socialise…. whilst Ann & I have been taking Moro to Croxteth Country Park, a short 5 minute drive from our own house… I have now rigged up a clip lead to the back of the car, as after a few trips to the park… Moro worked out how to jump over the back seats and into the car itself… lol.

As well as meeting other people and dogs, it gives us a chance to get her used to bicycles, cars, livestock and horses, although when seeing these… the lead is always clipped in place.

So after parking the car, we are getting into a routine… we take her off the lead, to the livestock pens, before clipping her on again as we pass, encouraging her to ‘stay’…

Then make our way to the Park Cafe, as there are always a line of dog bowls with fresh water… and Ann & I can get a cup of tea… and sometimes a sausage or bacon on toast to share…

Moro… hoping to get some of our bacon on toast…

After our cuppa and a snack… we take a walk around the C.P…. people are astounded, by the way Moro walks beside us without a lead, and often say to us remarks like “we never let ours off the lead… in case it runs away”… and it leaves them in total amazement when she breaks off what she is doing… to come back to us when I whistle her, or call her…

Moro, gets some scent and goes under the log…

On our last run in the Country Park, Moro saw some waterfowl on duckweed covered pond, and decided to give chase… much to her surprise… although duckweed can look like grass to her… underfoot, as she launched herself off the bank… it was total shock and a quick climb out… but saying this after she had dried herself off on the grass… she was eager to give it another go… and we had to clip her back on… lol.

On the way back to the car… Moro found something dead to roll on

So… at home… bath time !!!
