I do love to see a bit of Liverpool Social History, I was given these images amongst 100’s of others by a good friend Bobby B. He told me that he was doing a refurbishment job in the 1980’s in the City Centre, when his apprentice ran in to tell him that the office workers had filled a skip with old photos. Bobby managed to save some… and the rest is really history….

A member of my own family… Harry Jasper (Great Uncle) was an optometrist based in Liverpool in the 1930 onwards. He was a member of the Liverpool Amateur Photographic Association (LAPA). Ironically, I too am a member of the South Liverpool Photographic Society (SLPS) which incorporated LAPA into its ranks in the 1950’s. Although I saw Harry Jaspers images and Albums 20+years ago, they seem to have got lost in the family, or split up, so Harry’s work will sadly fade away and be lost. This is a shame, as I would have enjoyed showing his images on the web, and giving him the recognition he deserved as an early Pioneer of the art & craft of photography.
