BIG changes have been going on at Roby Station for the past few months. Updating and refitting the station, along with adding a central platform and the re-positioning of lines. Originally the ‘old’ station had four platforms, but in the 1970’s this was reduced to two. Now a third platform has been added along with four lines for the station. these changes in the lines go back into Town, and onward past Huyton Station, which too has been revamped to modern specifications (will update in a future post).

A Materials Depot has been located on the opposite side of of Bridge Road, with its own access road in. It has been set up on the Playing fields on the Arnside Road side of the Western Avenue Housing Estate. As the tracks have once again been widened to four, the playing field side of the tracks has had to be strengthened to avoid any potential collapse.
