Rivington Again !!!

Pigeon Tower (top)

It was my day off today… So after looking out the window of the bedroom, I noticed that there was great cloud structure to the sky, but with breaks, which let the sun through… A perfect day for a 720nm I.R. filter. So after a shower and a bit of brekkie, I packed a Full Spectrum camera, gathered a few lenses and filters, put Elle in the car and set off for a day on Rivington Moors, knowing that I would at some time end up in the gardens… on my way, up & down to and from the moors.

I parked the car at the middle car-park, donned my boots, changed the filter to a deep contrast 850nm (as a lot of the cloud structure had dispersed) and Elle and I walked up to the Gardens, and under one of the ornamental bridges of the old Rivington Estate… I had a plan to walk up to the Pike, so circled around to take a rear path, which would bring me to the rear of the Pike… I joined other walkers going to the top… which has super views over Lancashire…

After a while and a few images from the top… Elle and I walked down the front, and made our way to the Pigeon Tower… as readers know, the Pigeon Tower is a favourite spot for us… and like all parts of the garden… everyday has a new and different shot, I suppose that’s why Ann & I like Rivington so much…

After waiting for the right light, cloud structure etc. I walked down to the rear of the Tower to get a few shots. Not many people take the rear of the tower, but as you can see… it gives some great results… We then took the path that led into the old gardens, and onwards to the ornamental lake, where I had a spot of lunch and chilled for a while, listening to some tunes on my mp3 player, before heading off back to the car… another super day’s photography…

Ann & I plan to go to Rivington again real soon… but this time we will look at parking on Winterhill… as there is some fascinating history to be had there… but that’s for another blog…lol.
