A stay in the English Lake District (day 3)

Ann at Buttermere

Today’s weather showed more promise… at least it wasn’t raining… and although cloudy throughout, there was good cloud structure to be had, if the sun would only shine. This being the case we had breakfast and headed out to Buttermere…

We drove around the top end of Bassenthwaite Lake and on to Braithwaite, where we joined the Whinlatter Pass, over the mountain, before dropping down to Buttermere… we parked up just before Buttermere, on the banks of Crummock Water (a favourite lake) just as the sun came out…

We decided to leave the car here, and hike over the ‘Fish Inn‘ in Buttermere Village… however, as we were walking…. it clouded over, and the rain started once again… so we decided to head back to the car, and drive in to the village. After parking up, we headed into the Fish Inn for a light lunch, before walking to Buttermere (the lake) for some images… there were odd breaks in the cloud, and as such it made for some good images when the sun shone through…

After visiting the lake… we headed back to Keswick, but this time on the circular road back to Keswick…. one of the most scenic roads in the Lakes…
