A day in the hills…

The Due Golfi bus…

Today, we had breakfast in the hotel restaurant, and made our way to the road entrance of the hotel… for a trip in the hills above Sorrento.

Upon our arrival, we had gone to the Tui welcome meeting later that day… and after attending the one last year… we had decided to only go on the ONE organised trip out, this year… the trip we had planned was a half day excursion up to the hills around the Sorrento area, visiting places of interest along the route… So at the designated time, we caught the great little train bus, on the road… and trundled along, passing little villages along the route to a convent (closed order) high in the hills above Sorrento… The Convent was named ‘Monastereo S. Paolo al Deserto’ and had great views around… including the Isle of Capri.

We then boarded the Golfi once again, for our next visit to a ‘highlight’ of the tour… a visit to a Limoncello Factory… WOW !!! so after a great explanation from the owner, about the process of making the limoncello, and onto the actual tasting session… some great flavours and varieties, but as a limoncello man myself… and Ann as well, the original would always be the best for us…lol.

So with only a 1 litre bottle for 13 euros… our choice was made and we bought a couple… it was then time to head off on the bus… to visit a Mozzarella, Olive Oil, and Lemon Orchard at another venue. Although another great visit, we had already bought our Limoncello… but out of courtesy, we tried the Cheese and Olive Oil… but never actually bought anything from this site…

We boarded the bus train for the last time, and started back to our individual hotels… I must admit it was a great trip, and if/when we go again…. I’m sure we will seriously consider, doing this superb relaxing journey into the hills once again… as we will have to buy more bottles next time… cos it seems to evaporate in the bottle, really quickly, once it is opened…. lol.
