The Amalfi White Knuckle Ride

The Amalfi Drive…

I had always imagined that the Amalfi Drive… along the coast from Sorrento to Amalfi, would be a really sedate, old age sought of trip… and taking into consideration… the organised Amalfi Coastal drive, costs over 100+ euros each… Ann and I never had the inclination to try it out…. However, coming back from Pompeii yesterday… we enquired with a tour rep outside the Rail Station… and subsequently bought a pair of Amalfi drive coach tickets for a mere 16 euros each for return tickets…

So the next day we took the hotel shuttle bus down to the old town… and made the short walk over to the Rail Station once again… to board the air-conditioned coach for the drive… and what a drive it was…

Another view…

A sedately drive it was not!!! I must admit, it was one of the most scenic and yes, exciting drives I have ever been on with its hairpin bends and magnificent views… I would honestly be concerned about driving a car along the road, let alone a coach… but after dropping some passengers off when we reached Positano, the coach sped along to Amalfi town, where we did some sight seeing… light lunch… and souvenir shopping… before heading off on the return white knuckle trip…lol

After such a superb day out, we headed back to Sorrento, and a well deserved Icecream in the local parlour… I remarked to Ann, that it would be an experience, to next year, consider doing the same route, only by sea, next year… as I noticed at the main harbour terminal, that one left Sorrento, called at Capri for 2 hours… Positano for 2 hours… Amalfi for 2 hours… then back to Sorrento… a definite maybe…lol

A fitting Ice cream to end a super day
