Our daughter Cath, having come out of a relationship, came back home…. I told her to pack in her job, and go build a school or dig a well in some foreign land…. I threw a couple of web-links her way… and so she applied for Voluntary Services Overseas.
They gave her details to a charity called Restless Development, and once they found out about her 2-1 degree with honours from Liverpool (Redbrick) University in Bio-Medical Sciences, they scooped her up right away…
In order to go… she had to raise £800 sterling (see her ‘just Giving‘ page), as although it is Government funded, the organisation like prospective participants to raise 10% of the projected costs…. board, injections and so on… Cath worked hard, fund raising for her trip, by baking, sponsorship, giving talks etc. You can hear one of her radio interviews here…
Cath flew out from Heathrow on Thursday 25.09.14 @ 21:00… and arrived in Mumbai the following morning at 07:00.
You can follow Cath’s India progression on her own blog… www.cathh.co.uk after she comes back, she is hoping to travel the world, visiting her Cousin Jake, Jake’s partner Paula, and their kids Pia & Caid in New Zealand for her first stop…
Cath, packing on her last night @ home…
